Caulfield Two Fold House

Status: Complete

The renovation to this single-fronted brick residence provides more light and space to the compact home for a young family of four.

"We selected Arcke because they listened and understood our needs. Matt brings empathy to his work which was very important to us as first time renovators. Matt provided us with beautiful design options that were realistic. His strong attention to detail helped us work through building approval, interior choices and ultimately managing the project with the builders. The final product is a fabulous new house that is flooded with natural light that seamlessly marries the old and the new. It is a pleasure to come home to."

- Katrina, Melbourne

Two distinctly new elements comprise the design: a pop-out bedroom to the former driveway to the north and a slender laundry, bathroom and storage extension encased in a “folded” form on the southern boundary. Both elements work to increase useable garden and yard space whilst facilitating an improved aspect to the living areas of the house.

By reallocating the use of space and rooms within the existing house, costs have been minimised. Reused materials including bricks from the old house to recycled timber cladding, provide texture and character.
